A lil' Dane Cook at the Improv

I went to my first official hollywood stand-up show. It was interesting, but nothing terribly great. We had to wait outside in line for over an hour, which meant the show went later.

First up was Carlos Alazraqui from"Reno 911". He did lots of voices sort of in the vein of Robin Williams (but not as if he was on speed like Williams). I liked his rant about out the Christian skateboarder who claims "god fucking rocks".

Then, BJ Novak from "The Office" fame (and "Punk'd"). He was meaner so I loved it. He even told a joke about his sister's rapist. It was delightfully dark.

Next was Ben Gle (sp?) who was totally wasted. He heckled some guy for having and earring. The audience member's comeback was "Sylvester Stallone has one!" Like that makes it okay to have a mullet and an earring. The comedian was a bit mean to the guy though.

And the "special guest" turned out to be Dane Cook. Not too surprising considering he lives in LA. Plus, it's easy promotion for his boring ass show "Dane Cook's Tourgasm". He wasn't all crazy and jumping about like I've seen on TV.

He was pretty funny, I did genuinely laugh. He was mainly telling jokes about being horny and hitting on girls stupidly. Or went on random tangents about the Discovery Channel etc. He did make a funny joke about every goddamn thing being on You Tube these days (like home videos in your attic could possibly end up on there). And he recommends not to look up the number of rapists on the internet that live near you. According to him, Silverlake is filled with them. (*note to self, never walk alone to go to party in Silverlake).

Overall, it was a nice time. The obstacles to get in though were almost too much.
