Harry Potter Lexicon

Doesn't JK Rowling have enough money?

What's the big deal if this weepy guy wants to publish a reference book? His website was made out an earnest love for the books it seems.

I love those books, but sheesh are they confusing! I think there's enough harry potter money for them to share. Golden Compass has reference books, and you don't see Pullman throwing a fit. JK, you should just chill out and let your billions of dollars comfort you.

Rowling's expensive Fairy Tales

J.K. Rowling is now even more ridiculously wealthy. Her handwritten and illustrated book of fairy tales just sold for $4 million bucks! Holy hell!

I love Harry Potter and shit but damn is that a bit inflated. They had expected to only get 100K, guess they severely underestimated Pottermaniacs. Actually, it was Amazon.com who took the prize off Sotheby's hands. They plan to tour the book around libraries, which I suppose is slightly admirable. Now regular folks might take a peek at it, instead of it collecting dust in some fanatic's house.

The "Deathly Hallows" are approaching

The new Harry Potter cover has finally been set loose on the internets. And as a faithful follower of the series (and fantasy book nut), I wanted to post it on my blog.

I am psyched about it actually being released this year (July 21). But I'm not so obsessed as to have already pre-ordered it or anything. As soon as the release date was announced, Borders tried to email me (i.e. swindle me) into pre-ordering it with them a full 6 months in advance! It's a freakin' children's book. I will probably order it from Amazon before even dreaming of going inside an actual bookstore to get. The freaks will already be foaming at the mouth since the 5th movie comes out a few weeks before.

Now, that movie sounds great. It's the darkest one yet. Major characters die and shit. I am curious to see how they condense the longest book of the series into a 2 hour film.
